Starting over.. but daily
Jan 15, 2026
Everyone of us that’s been through a setback in life knows what it’s like to start over, from scratch.. shake the dust off and get back on your saddle.
There’s something magical and mindful about the practice. You don’t really start over but you do, do you get what I’m saying here?
The second or fiftieth time around you come into the arena with past experience, a list of do’s and don’ts, feelings, maturity, knowledge. Things that were not there the first time around.
It’s also a way of not being hard on yourself. It tells oneself it’s ok to err on the side and make mistakes. The best teacher in life is a setback or failure.
So why not do that on a daily basis? Instead of carrying the feelings and grudges of yesterday?
Why bring forward all the bad that happened yesterday in a beautiful gift called a new day? Why not only take the lessons learnt and leave the rest in its right place, yesterday.
I will tell you why we don’t do that.
The reason is our state of mind, our mindsets, our preconditioning. We are programmed to think in years, months never days.. nothing ever happens in a day. Even though everything can and will happen in a day.
We tend to not take note of the importance of the powerful day. With that being said we also don’t take note of the bad powers of rolling over the mishaps and bad of a previous day. If the rollover was a day or two, no problem.. but we tend to take to the end of the month with us.
If it happens today, it should be utilized, absorbed, and diminished by the end of the day. Don’t fret the small stuff, the stuff that you can’t do anything about, focus on what you can do today.
Try this for a change:
- Starting today document whatever bothers you in a journal
- Starting tomorrow don’t look at yesterdays journal, look for something good about the day.. document it
- At the end of tomorrow document whatever bothered you, it ends there
- At the end of the week extract the lessons
- At the end of the month pick the three most valuable lessons so they can stick and not be repeated
- At the start of a new month: repeat the process
Eventually you’ll have a habit of not fretting over the small or big stuff that you can t do anything about.
Start over each day, fresh and without baggage from previous days.
Have a nice day.
