Break the rituals & daily habits
Oct 21, 2025There’s something amazing that happens when you break a pattern, any pattern. These patterns that are created through life, some are old and outdated and some are new ones we are working on.
Daily rituals that become atomic habits, habits that we don’t take not of or rarely question, we just do them.. and that’s the whole point of daily atomic habits. Habits that are so small you barely notice them, therefore rarely have to find the energy to do or fight them.
What I have personally noted is when I force a reset, a break in the system, a hard reset to my daily rituals I gain perspective into how I function, how my internal operating system is working.
Then there’s a few benefits also that need mentioning that occur:
- I get to see what is no longer required of me. There’s so many habits that were once useful and today no linger required. Things like a certain daily morning ritual that keeps me in tune. A ritual that has been updated and replaced, why should I do two things that give me the same results?
- I can reshuffle priorities based on my current lifestyle and goals. What I mean here is with all the tech updates and AI agents and what not, I can start to cut back on what I do personally and hand it over to agents to save me some time.
- I get to see what has been accomplished with what? If it worked then do more of that, if not delete and move on. Why do something only because its a habit?
- Habits compound, especially atomic ones. I have never found anything more powerful than automating my habits atomically. But sometimes they stop delivering or have expired, when I take a breather I get to check them out, if I’m on cruise control I don’t see that.
- In order to update my systems I need to keep checking what’s available and what’s useful for me, that takes time and effort. I suck at multitasking, if that’s even a thing.
- You can’t manage what you can’t measure. I need to update my measurement apparatuses and use the latest if I want to stay current.
Sometimes I’m taking on too much at the same time so I need to stop, check and reorder priorities. For example I was in the middle of writing a new book and found out that my mind was occupied by certain things that were urgent but not really important.
They were promises made, they had to be delivered. So I stopped writing, finished them all and now I can focus on my writing.
I wouldn’t have known that simple thing if I didn’t take a forced exit off auto street.
Try it, let me know what you think? And what other ideas do you have that can help us in this attention economy and early Ai stages?
Have a great day!
